This past month I stopped using the Lexapro as I felt it was not producing the benefits that it once did. Overall though, I thought it was a good medicine for me especially in the early stages of use. I had little to no side effects (even at 100mg) during the time, its just that I just seem to have a high tolerance to SSRIs (as do some other people) and they seem to lose their effectiveness after about a year. Another example of this was my year long trial of 100mg of Celexa which followed the same pattern. Everyone's bio-chemical makeup (for lack of a better term) is vastly different so an individual may require more or less than what is considered "normal". My pdoc uses the analogy that these meds are like coats.........."not everyone wears the same size, so work with what fits you best". It is funny because right now I am taking 40mg of Adderral XR per day along with .5mg of Klonopin twice a day and I am feeling just fine. These are relatively "normal" dosages for these types of meds, which is quite the contrast to my SSRI dosage needs. I just find it weird that I am so tolerant to one type of med, yet I am more in line with the typical dosages of other med types. But like I said, everyone is different and I am just working with what fits me best. Good luck to you and keep us posted!
