It seemed to elivate the depression more that the SSRi's. Now I am on Zoloft and it does not see to be as effective as nardil. They have changed the formulation of Nardil and I wondered if that would affect the side effects. Does anyone know?

I think this is very much dependent on the individual and how susceptible they are to edema. I am now up to 90 mg/day of Nardil and have not experienced this but have never experienced edema on any other AD, anti-hypertensive, or at any other point in my life, either. I have a reference

http://www.vh.org/adult/provider/psychiatry/CPS/19.html

(if that link doesn't work, sorry, I am at home on my primitive webtv and have a harder time with posting links)

In the paper, they do a couple different comparisons of edema:

Placebo (n = 43)...... 0%
Imipramine (n = 65)... 0%
Nardil (n = 141)...... 8%
Parnate (n = 41)...... 2%

Nardil 60 mg/day for six weeks.......... 5%
Amitriptyline 150 mg/day for six weeks.. 20%
