I recall being on strattera and paxil , and getting what seemed to be a really sick/depressed feeling during the same period of time everyday. I assumed it was just depression and continued taking it for a couple months. I discontinued it because of lack of results and went on Ritalin , same thing.. I got off all stimulants for a while , along with the paxil. Around the time I was completely weaned off the paxil I went on adderall , which seemed to work pretty well. But after I started the lexapro I noticed again , I started getting that sick/depressed feeling ( It happened when I increased the lex from 10mg to 15mg) , just to test the theory I decreased dosage , and the sick/depressed feeling seemed much milder and almost non existent. It seems like there's definite a linkadge, which my p-doc denied.
I have come up with a possible explanation , it has to do with the cyp enzymes which metabolize the Ssri's. I am just becoming familiar with this , but it looks like the paxil inhibits the functioning of this enzyme up to 80 percent. If you are taking an ssri , and a stimulant , which both work on an enzyme that may already be poor at metabolizing drugs (naturally) , along with the paxil inhibition = negative reaction. Just a guess
This has caused me much suffering , I was to ignorant to blame the meds , the thought never crossed my mind. So what complication could arrise from this negative reaction? What kind of strain was this putting on my body , which resulted in the sick feeling. I am experiencing long-term problems from these drugs , negative interaction may have caused some damage , i just dont know. These meds are causing me nothing but long lasting problems..
