chemist here...i concur with jms600....in prn dosing, valium will act faster than ativan, xanax the fastest. the real problem is in getting off of xanax, it is a triazolobenzodiazepine, not a 1,4 or 1,5 substituted benzo (like the rest) and thus you cannot (comfortably) swap a traditional benzo for xanax during a taper...all the best, chemist
