Hi sdjeff:
>>> I've been off the Nortriptyline for 2-3 nights and no relief from these emotional fits as well as mild akathesia. <<<--- As to 'the emotional fits,' ... it sounds to me like definitely due to the depressive side of BPD/BP. For this kind of problem, you need some form of AD, preferably SSRI, such as 'Zoloft' is one of the best, ... in my knowledge. However, it might be still hard for you to find a right AD since you have AD sensitivity, in my recollection from some of your previous threads. Most of depressive folks has/had one way or other, 'crying fits/spells,' because 'tear' is said to be a 'relief,' then in a way it's good when/before 'enormous pressure' building up in your system, that I heard.
Under this situation, 'emotional fits,' however, you want some remedy to make it stop, ....
In my suggestion, you may/need to call your pdoc. for your up-to-date 'emotional situation.'
In my case, the pdoc. is available in a day or so after urgency-call. However, I know every pdocs. must be different schedule/approach for their patients's needs. So, it might be quite tricky in this regard.Concerning 'mild akathesia,' .... possibly I too had to some extent, not serious form at the beginning of AP regimen, but that was a way back, ... about three or four years ago, then I cannot remember about this well. However, it may go away with the time, possibly about 3-4 weeks' use, ... gradually. If it does not occur, and then it's better to inform your pdoc. soon.
During the right med. combo. search, ... I know from my personal experience, it's SO frustrating, even angry over those tele. calls and appts. with the pdoc., but in the end, it's well worth!
Hopefully, someone else has MORE helpful and knowledgeable reply on your current situation! H.G.
