> I have been diagnosed as bipolar but I mostly have problems with depression. I am extremely sensitive to every mood stabilizing or antidepressant medication I have tried, especially antidepressants. 1/20 of a Paxil will keep me awake for two days. Lithium made me feel like a zombie and really did nothing for my depression. Lamictal was helping with the depresssion at 30mg/day, but I couldn't sleep and it was making me extremely irritable. Now I'm off the lamictal but depressed. I tried buspar but a crum of the pill kept me up all night. I have also had a lifelong problem with insomnia and take medication for that at night. Is anyone else this sensitive to antidepressant type medication? I don't know what to do!

>Hi,
TCA's would be worth a trial, you ceratinly have a lot of meds that you can still try. Do you have any kind of manic episodes? If so, then you should try Depakote. Generally BP'ers take Litium, Lamictal or Depakote to prevent manic episodes.
Cheers,
Panda.
