In reply to Effexor dopamine better sex? At what dosage?, posted by jerimycoplo on April 22, 2004, at 0:57:28
> Hi I am going to start Effexor here soon and I was wondering at what dosages effexor 'officially' starts having action on dopamine? Has anyone taken it at those dosages? What happened to you as you increased your dosages and how did it affect you differently as the serontonin , then norepinephrine, and then dopamine kicked in? Is the dopamine effect at the higher dose very weak or average in intensity when compared to say zoloft (which supposedly has a super small effect on dopamine, or compard to

Did the dopamine effect elicited by the effexor have similarity with the one elicited by wellbutrin (which is stimulating), or is it possible to have dopamine reuptake inhibition without getting the more stimulating - sexually enhancing side effects.

>Hi JC,
I believe at around 600mg Effexor starts to fill Dopamine receptors, but thats a fairly ridiculous amount to be taking IMHO. Zoloft hits dopamine receptors at about the same rate that Effexor hits NE recptors, which is possibly the reason it has the highest efficacy of the so called SSRI's.
