Hi Andy,
I strongly agree with Panda. There are other meds on the market that will help with your obsessive thinking that don't cause the same problems as Paxil.
Ones to try: Prozac or Lexapro are both very good at helping you control your thought patterns.
My experience with Paxil was a nightmare. I was almost too afraid to try another SSRI because I was worried it would have similar side effects to Paxil. Those side effects included but are not limited to: severe anxiety attacks, feelings of unreality, increased heart rate, insomnia, paranoia and impaired vision. The psychiatrist I'm seeing now doesn't even prescribe Paxil because he thinks it is such a poor medication.
Prozac and Lexapro are much better alternatives, and I've heard good things about Zoloft. I hope you will try one of these medications before taking Paxil.
