well, i cannot find anything that indicates that paxil past-use can impair congnitive functioning, although i wouldn't lay it off entirely. the adderall *could* be activating you - distracting you - and that might be what you are interpreting as cognitive malfunction. paxil has gotten a lot of bad press recently, and perhaps there is something there: i do not know. lexapro is a pretty safe bet, and adderall is, in my opinion, causing initial concentration followed by the crash that is manifesting itself as confusion. i hope this helps, and please let me know if i can be of any help in the future....best, chemist
> Ok that's the thing , I am only 17. I am on no other med except a stimulant ( adderall) These symptoms manifested while I was on the paxil. I started on paxil about 2 years ago (for depression) . It was working great until , for one reason or another , I had trouble concentrating on it , I had word-finding difficulties , It seems I couldn't string a sentence together properly , my comprehension was gone ( I would read words and they just wouldn't be registering in my mind i'd have to read the sentence over 10 times just to comprehend it) it also screwed up my emotions ( couldn't cry or get angry). Much of what I was experiencing persisted even after I stopped the paxil.. My theory was maybe the ssri pooped out , so depression symptoms surfaced. I wish it was the case but I feel great on the lexapro and still having trouble. I'd say diet is pretty good , lately I haven't been eating much at all. ( damn stimulants ) Also what i've been noticing to this day , which is probably related to proccessing somehow , say a car crashed right in front of me , I will think nothing of it and 5 minutes later , i'll just realize what exacly happened " oh my god did that car just crash" It seems the messages aren't getting through in my brain properly , it's like there going through mollasses. Isn't that what neurotransmitters are for?? I wouldn't be surprised if the paxil screwed em up. I would be glad to give you anyother info you may need
