Okay, I'm 20 and have been around the block with the antidepressants and antipsychotics for social anxiety disorder (which only Klonopin seemed effective at, so I now am on the Klonopin Wafers).
My new psychiatrist... lol- after seeing 6, this guy's like the antithesis to the typical psychiatrist- I am just ruling out the mere possibility that I would ever get Ambien prescribed, so I go,
me: "now, I have been experiencing insomnia... now look, I'm not asking for anything like Ambien, I just want something to help my sleep... so, um, I'm even willing to try Seroquel for it..."
my doc: "I'm not comfortable with that, but I am willing to give you Ambien... 10mg daily. Does your insurance cover 30 days supply of it?"
me: "um, yeah, sure"
Well, seeing as how I'm depressed, I'm actually thinking of trying out an antipsychotic and replacing it with the Ambien, so I happen to get relief in helping myself fall asleep as well as helping my ridiculiously low energy levels as I work on this with CBT.
Keep in mind my doc doesn't see sales people, which must explain his novel approach to not pushing an antipsychotic down my throat... I think it's weird I'm even mentioning how I have to sell a pdoc on an antipsychotic... I thought they were like trained to sell patients on the stuff!
Is this what they call role reversal? =)
