Tinnitus is a well known side effect of Wellbutrin. I always took the SR and even experienced it on that, but I already have some tinnitus in one ear so perhaps am unusually sensitive.

The XL does not work as well for some people. A fellow at work has ADD and takes Wellbutrin and Ritalin. He found 450 mg of the XL inferior to 400 mg of the SR. The XL released too slowly for his needs and just did not agree with him. Of course, Glaxo is pushing the XL because their patents have run out on the SR, and it may indeed be a good med for some, though, somewhat more expensive than the generic SR versions that are starting to come out.
