Most red wines actually seem to be okay. Chianti wine has a fairly high tyramine content and should best be avoided IMO. What must be absolutely avoided is tap beer, which has shown alarmingly high tyramine levels in several different investigations. Most bottled beers seem to be okay, particularly from the major breweries. Shulman, et al, from the Sunnybrook Health Science Centre in Toronto recommend no more than two drinks per day for MAOI patients. I take Nardil myself and admit moderately exceeding this (three or four drinks on occasion).
