Hey Tainted --
Wow, I have been where you are. When I was in my second year of college, I developed a severe depression. I also kind of avoided classes a bit, and when I tried to get help my parents discouraged me.
I agree with the advice that you should get help. Try again, be it with a counselor, psychiatrist, whoever it is that could help you with this problem. You don't want to stay locked up in your room, or in the campus computer lab, not leaving, not being productive.
After you're evaluated, I would also suggest trying to leave school for the semester. It is much better to have one bad semester where you withdraw than it is to have a semester of D's and F's. Those poor grades could come back to haunt you in the future.
I know that leaving your friends on campus and/or moving back to your parents will really suck, but you were probably going to be home for the summer soon anyways, right? Once you have the appropriate diagnosis, you should be able to trust in yourself and gather the strength to tell your parents that this short break is what you NEED right now in order to succeed in the future.
So, without fear, the next chance you get, I think you should take a deep breath, pray, whatever it is that you do, and then pick up the phone to call whoever it is that can assess you and help you out. Make SURE, btw, that you are checked for physical illnesses like thyroid problems (I developed one early in college), blood sugar problems, etc., before just trying another antidepressant. The medical system can afford to give you one or two little tests before popping pills in your mouth.
Good luck, and let us know what you decide to do.
