Both Parnate and Nardil afford me transient relief. I would consider myself a partial responder to both of them. I also experienced a partial response to clorgyline, an investigational MAOI that is used now only for animal experiments and assays.

Your idea is very interesting. In psychiatry, I think it is important to look for associations where ever they can be found. However, my initial reaction is to say that there is probably no negative association between an individual's response to reversible versus irreversible MAOIs. I think it is productive to acknowledge that the reversibles are generally not as potent as the irreversibles with regard to the treatment of severe depression. It is their reversibility that most likely renders them less effective.

Moclobemide is a rather weird drug, though. It actually binds rather tightly to the enzyme compared to the other RIMAs (Reversible Inhibitors of Monoamine oxidase type A) that have been investigated. It also has an incredibly short half-life - about an hour if I recall. I think, perhaps, that it is the rapid drop in post-dose blood levels and thus the brevity of exposure that contributes to its observed reversibility.
