In reply to Lexapro and weight gain?, posted by Angel1 on March 21, 2004, at 17:47:08
I have been on Lexapro a couple of times. The first time I had little increase of appetite; the second I thought it was making me completely ravenous; I am on it now, and I do not think I have gained any weight as a direct result of Lexapro. I have seen others on it who have not gained weight, either--& some at higher dosages than mine! When I started taking it again this past winter, I think it actually decreased my appetite. Now everything seems stable in that department. As for increased need for sleep, a friend of mine did think that her Lexapro was making her more tired during the day. Generally, Lexapro probably makes me less tired than, say, Zoloft does. I have had & witnessed very few accounts of side effects (nasty ones) with this Rx. I am extremely cautious about Rx's that seem to have high incidence of any weight gain. To me, Lex seems like a pretty benign drug for depression--but everybody's different.
Best,
L.> Has anyone who is currently taking Lexapor noticed any weight gain with this drug?
