Hi:
Sleeping problem is often related to 'Depression' and 'Anxiety' with which you've been already dealing.
It sounds like you've been on many different form of med., including older form of AP, Haldol, then I totally understand your search for 'good night sleep' is VERY desperate.
In my guess along with the experience from my own journey as having Bp II, first thing you need to know is the EXACT cause for insomnia. Otherwise, just keep looking for a right med. might be practically time-consuming along with a lot of 'trials and errors,' as you already said here.
In my suggestion, although there are many different form of meds. to look at and choose from, you may need to pin-point at what's causing this, ... insomnia.
In my case, insomnia comes from both, depression and anxiety due to Bp II, then the med. for this is the Zyprexa, rather anti-dep., because its effectivenes suitable to my system. We are so different on different medications, however. Seeing your med. history, it sounds like you're a sort 'med. resistent' type, then try to look for med. that normally uses for Anxiety, such as Klonopin, even Serzone(needs a strong liver, plus with NO history of liver problem) might work for you. Serzone is VERY unique med. that works both Depression and Anxiety that ultimately alleviates 'insomnia' fairly at good level.
First, try to talk this med. Serzone(assuming you have a strong Liver) with your pdoc. at your next appt.
H.G.
