Lamictal would be a good choice if the lithium doesn't do the trick. It has shown itself to be effective for:

1. Acute bipolar depression
2. Rapid-cycling
3. Mood stabilization, preventing relapse into depression

Good luck with the lithium. If you tolerate the side effects, but don't feel that it is helping enough, you can simply add the Lamictal to it.
