my neuros nurse practitioner prescribed a small amount to help me with really bad insomnia from an AED and told me to tell my psych dr. what she was prescribing. I did and my psych dr. (who prescribed an AD I am trying to get off of) said NO WAY should I take seroquel with my AED. (I was told I can't switch AEDs just yet, besides, others have given me the same insomnia also!)
My problem is that I am NOT SLEEPING on my AED. For a long long time. The neuros nurse practitioner thinks I could be bi-polar in addition to having epilepsy because of the insomnia. With my sleeplessness and racing thoughts I can see this.
I just don't understand the response of my psych dr. I HAVE TO SLEEP.
Would the neurologis the nurse practitioner works for allow her to prescribe something he would disapprove of? He prescribed me the AED. I know the older anti-psychotics may cause seizures, but do the newer, does seroquel?
