>>Ditto, I've never had withdrawal probs with SSRIs, only BZs.
But I am still struggling to come off SSRIs.
And if you go through this wonderful board, you can see more paxil effexor withdrawal stories than benzos. Prozac is considered to be the easiest of these meds to withdraw, but I am still struggling and yet to find a way to come off these highly acclaimed antideps. It is not underlying depression that makes me go back to prozac or similar meds, but fact is I have become dependent on them. Staying off them causes countless sufferings to me, but a single dose of prozac relieves me. My pre-prozac life was not like this. Alas!
Dr. Ashton is none other than a real benzophobic, and her valium substitution method shouldn't necessarily work for all. For many patients, valium is merely a dummy pill(It has to be administered in high doses to relieve panic attack)and according to APA it is the most reinforcing benzo and has the most abuse potential. Still I won't forget, patients are there who find valium a life saver like any benzo.
