Well, you could just not take it for a month, and then ask for the Adderall at your next appointment after the month has elapsed.
If you *absolutely need* something for proper functioning, you could take a reduced dose for the month duration.
I think Pdocs don't like "rapid med switching" because they believe you need time to adjust to both the therapeutic effects and the side effects, and the constant calls and frequent appointments create additional administrative overhead for them.
That sounds nicer that "they don't want to be bothered" but I understand that concern because I am a busy (non-medical) professional and I know that I try to wean clients off "real-time, instant-response" support to a more regular schedule so my life is not hell.
If you think about it that way (adequate time for benefit and tolerance to side effects, plus administrative manageability for the doc) I think you will see that waiting a month is both beneficial to you and is a professional courtesy to your doc.
