Topamax VS Amitriptyline

I was prescribed Amitrip for chronic migraines. I've been debating between Topamax and Amitrip. Which do you think has the worst side-effects? The neuro seemed to favor Amitrip. The sedation sucks. Does it go away?
Topamax- I was only supposed to go to 100mgs. I don't want to loose weight, and I hear it can cause depression. I did notice (the week I was on it) I had trouble finding the word I was looking for.
I do suffer from depression and anxiety, and dp/dr.
Which do you guys favor?
