Hi:
Not only your country, Canada, ... here, in USA there is a BIG TOPIC whether SSRIs are right for children under 18. Frankly, I am NOT able to tolerate some of SSRIs or my system does not need,... then in my guess, those SSRIs, especially, Zoloft and other potent SSRIs might NOT be right AD for children. However, like any other issues else, ... some of mothers whose sons and daughters depend on SSRIs, have a heated debate on this regard. Then, there might be quite awhile for the authority to decide.
In my personal opinion, however, it's good to have and choose many different group of med. as long as there is some precaution, even under their parents' supervision. Because, without SSRIs, some of those folks under 18 may have a trouble of finding alternative/substitute med. Besides this, a right med./med. combo. are practically 'life-saver,' as well.
