A lot of people wpndre about that. I think it's hard to say.
I had been on 60 mg Celexa when Laxapro came out about 15 months a go. I then switched to 20 mg Lexapro. I was on 20 mg for 13 months, then needed an increase to 30 mg. After being on 30 for a month, I addded Wellbutrin (to help concentration). Then, I was able to lower the Lexapro back to 20 mg.
I'm feeling very good right now with 30 mg Lexapro and 100 mg (taken once a day) of Wellbutrin XL.
The Lexapro "equivalent" for 40 mg Celexa is probably between 10 and 20 mg Lexapro. You might want to start with 15, then go up or down after a couple weeks.
If I were you, I would ask the doc for the 20 mg pills since they are easy to cut in halves and in fourths with a razor blade knife. You will save money because the 10 and 20 mg pills cost about the same per pill.
