In reply to Alternatives to Celexa, for Topomax users, posted by College-Girl on February 19, 2004, at 0:09:28
> Hi, this is my first time posting. I am a 23 years old, and I take 60 mg of Celexa and 30 mg of Topomax daily. I think that the Celexa is lossing its effectiveness, because I have been on it so long, so I am looking into alternatives to it. I have been happy with my current combination, and have had no sexual side effects with Celexa. Paxil didn't work well for me. I am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who takes Topomax, and may have insight, because I am new to that drug. Thank you so much for you help! -Liz
It is common for drug poop-out if your not on a therapuetic dose of the Topamax. 30mg is very low considered to others on the board who are taking it. You need to push up the dose and back off on the celexa. The topamax will augment the celexa and help keep your moods more stable. Be patient til you find the right dosage. This is what happened in my case. Increasing my lamictal and lowering my effexor was the best thing to keep my depressions at bay. Hope this helps. Talk to your doctor first before doing anything!!!
