> I started nardil about 5 weeks ago at 45mg a day and have worked up to 90mg/ 45mg bid. I feel a small bit of the anxiolytic effects but not any of the anti depression effects. Occasionally my afternoon dose produces a short lived high for a few hours but never lasts. Does anyone know if these symptoms will develop into the full effect of the drug within the next few weeks?
I confused about the dosage...do you either take 90mg 2x a day or 45mg 2x day depending on how you feel...or are you taking it 2x a day (bid) @ 90mg in the morning AND 45mg in the afternoon....in any event...
Im assuming your dr. told to you to take 3-6 pills bid....I would stay at a specific dose 60-75mg, for a couple of months, and don't waver from that dose..you may have to take the higher dose of 90mg for a couple of months..but stick with that consistantly, until you feel better.
Nardil is not like most medications..you can start at a high dose (like 90mg), and then gradually (when you feel better) decrease to a dose that maintains the antidepressant activity...which in some cases is as little as 15mg every other day, or as much as 45mg every day..
If you continue with a consistant high dose, I would suggest that you get a CBC and full liver enzyme test.
