antipsychotic or effexor for SAD

Posted by thinkfast on February 6, 2004, at 4:58:19

All right, this Neurontin is no longer working, being sleepy and nervous is all that comes with it....Most of the meds that have sedative properties make the social anxiety worse and there is no drive to be sociable. I think I'm finally going to break down and visit my pdoc and ask about effexor or abilify perhaps. Many have said that the Abilify is great for severe SA. What can you expect from an antipsychotic? Are they sedating? Stimulants seem to cure my SA, and from what I can tell, the Effexor is somewhat similar. I'm still under the impression that it's a dopamine problem. Anyway, the sedative route is not a road I want to travel anymore and I want to try something else. Any thoughts on either of these, or any other meds would be appreciated.... or some personal experiences with these..thanx!
