I've been on Effexor (75mg) for about a year now, and I've noticed a strange effect: it seems to make marijuana intoxication much more intense.
I only recently (i.e., after starting effexor) started smoking marijuana after pretty much giving it up during my early high school years. I've tried smoking during Effexor holidays, and it's not nearly the same experience. With the Effexor, there's much more euphoria, and more of a visual aspect to it. It's much more useful in using it as a way to clarify my thinking, analyze my thoughts, etc. But it's not so useful as social lubricant, which is primarily why I started using it (I can't stand alcohol and I feel marijuana is a far better drug, in many different ways).
I guess what I'd like to know is: has anyone else felt similar effects, from SSRIs and marijuana, and can anyone explain the possible pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic reasons for this phenomenon?-christophre
