Hi,
If you have a general doctor, you can ask them for a referral to a psychiatrist.
If you live near a large university that has a medical center, that is a great place to find a dr. too and is usually not as expensive. For example, if you are in the Washington, DC area you can try Georgetown University, George Washington Univ. Go to their website and get the # for the Deparment of Psychiatry and tell them you are interested in outpatient treatment and would like to see a Dr. And if you're younger it is also more comforting to see that there are other people your age getting help too! (at least it was for me)
And third you can look for a referral service in the phone book, usually under psychiatry and you call and they refer you to someone.
