Being a working mom with three children, I was a very multi-tasked oriented person. However, after being treated for depression and given Effexor all of that changed. I found that I could concentrate on only one thing at a time. At first reading (almost nonstop when I was not sleeping), then on to drawing. I have never had any drawing ability other then stick people, etc. But this was no longer the case. My drawing was very good. I felt as if the pencil in my hand was doing all the drawing and I was a mere observer. I could draw with precise detail. Subjects like human hands, faces, animals (especially gorillias, in great detail!). I did not use my own judgement regarding the quality of the drawings, but showed others, including my doctor. It is really wierd! I spoke to my shrink about it asking if this creative spark could have anything to do with the Effexor. He said he had never heard of anything like this happening, but he can see how it might be possible. He joked about increasing the dosage so I could consider a career change. He did increase the dosage, but the creative spark did not increase. It stopped. I am back to drawing stick people. In addition, I stopped taking the RX due to "brain zaps".
Has anyone had a creative "binge" while taking this type of med.?
