Hello. The same thing happened to me on Mellaril. Mellaril is in a class of anti-psychotics called
"phenothiazines". I have been on a couple and they made me depressed with the exception of thorazine. Thorazine is a less potent phenothiazine but it also hits more receptors than the others. It's good too because you take it a few hours before going to bed and it relaxes you. I find I have less brain fog on it. Plus I am bipolar and I find the thorazine stays with me during the day and evens me out (it has a 30 hour half life where Melarril has a nine hour half life). My problem is I lactate on these drugs. Right now I am only taking the thorazine every 3 days to prevent lactation.
I hope this helps.

> Hi Folks...I am finding Mellaril to be far much better than the atypical antipsychotics at knocking me out to sleep each night. I am currently on 100 mg's. But, I am becoming weepy, sad, and bleak on it as well. I break out in uncontrollable crying spells that are only soothed with a benzo. Any users, past users, care to comment? Thanks very much,
