I'm a 150-mile/week cyclist and gained 10 pounds IMMEDIATELY when I began Paxil. As a cyclist I'm pretty aware of what I eat and was mystified. Could Paxil be causing some kind of metabolic slowdown? I don't know the reason, but I can corroborate the weight gain claim and it seems nearly universal, even among us "fit" types.
When I switched from Paxil to Lexapro I had no withdrawal problems or other transitional issues. The weight stabilized under Lexapro, but after several weeks I'm stiff somnolent on the stuff -- and find it hard to get the motivation to ride my bike. (Had this problem on Paxil too.)
