I agree that you should explain to your doctor that you want to increase the dosage. I didn't get much result from Parnate (another MAOI) until I went above the average dose. The resident Nardil evangelist, Ace, takes 90 mg/day, and this does not exceed the normal dose range. If your doctor is hesitant, possibly you could get him or her to consult with a good older psychiatrist who has more experience with MAOIs.
You definitely shouldn't give up on Nardil until you have reached 90 mg/day (assuming you can tolerate any side effects).
