PARNATE (TRANYLCYPROMINE SULFATE) and NARDIL (PHENELZINE SULFATE)
Severity: MajorDescription: Treatment with both PHENELZINE and MONOAMINE OXIDASE INHIBITORS may result in dangerously high blood pressure, elevated body temperature, and headache.
Phenelzine is a medication that is called a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAO inhibitor). It may interact with other MAO inhibitors. Other MAO inhibitors include but are not limited to Marplan(R), Parnate(R), and Eldepryl(R). If you are not sure if your medication is a MAO inhibitor, contact your pharmacist or physician. Consult your physician before starting treatment with both phenelzine and another MAO inhibitor. Being treated with both phenelzine and another MAO inhibitor is not recommended. You should wait at least 10 days after you stop taking phenelzine before you start taking another MAO inhibitor. If you are already being treated with phenelzine and another MAO inhibitor, and are experiencing intense sweating, facial flushing, frequent headaches, or racing or pounding heart beat, contact your physician immediately.
...this is off drugstore.com but i have have never read anywhere that it would be ok to mix the two!
best to you!
