FWIW, Serzone is very different from the SSRIs.
The hard part is getting through the initial few weeks of Serzone, which is when a lot of people give up on it. It caused me emotional lability, along with severe grogginess, balance problems, etc. But these wore off after the initial few weeks. I still get very sedated on it, but that is one of the desired effects--I take it at night. By morning, I'm fine (except those first few weeks of treatment).
The combo is important for me. I respond to Effexor but don't tolerate the SEs at higher doses. The serzone adds more AD effect and also counteracts some of the SEs from the Effexor.
Don't give up hope. There are still a few meds to try, and if you are partially responsive to some, maybe a combo will do the trick.
Take care, Scott.
