In reply to Help - Klonopin, Paxil, and Topomax combine?, posted by Asian Girl on December 21, 2003, at 7:40:27
Hi:
Both med., Topamax and Klonopin is more likely for people who has Bipolar Disorder and takes both for as 'add-up med.,' like for 'good-nite sleep and other Bipolar symptoms/manic. However, most of psycho-meds. have 'universal' usage.
As having depression along with Anxiety, your wife definitely needs some sort of AD med. along with a med. for 'anxiety.' In my knowledge, Paxil is not easy to take, especially if she has sensitivity to psycho.-med. Rather, other form of med. might be beneficial, however with med. sensitivity, there must be not easy to find a good med. combo. Then, in my suggestion, try to look for a psychiatrist who has a good track-record on depression field. Sometime, Anxiety is a part of 'depression,' rather than two separate mental illnesses.
Either way, I feel strongly that you and your wife needs at least 'second opinion' from a competent and experienced pdoc. Preferably, a pschy-pharmacologist whom you could find at Medical University. Even ask a local/good hospital for referral.
