EFFEXOR: Dose/ Length of Tx = Withdrawl Severity?

Posted by laurie_lu on December 17, 2003, at 18:32:39

As I read all these horror stories of withdrawl I am afraid this will be me a year from now trying to get off Effexor XR. I am new to this drug and am on my 3rd week at 75mg. Does the severity of the withdrawl correlate to the amount of time a person has taken this drug and the dose they've been taking? If they've been on it for 3 years at 300mg, will the withdrawl be worse than someone who's only taken it for one year at only 75 or 150mg? Or don't any of these contributing factors have any relationship to the severity and length of withdrawl symptoms? I see my doc in a few weeks and I am really not seeing much difference in my depression at 75mg. I have a feeling he will increase my dose of Effexor XR but I am wondering if I should just stop it now and try something different. This is my first antidepressant ever taken.
Thanks,
Laurie
