In reply to Dextroamphetamine (Barr) side effects vs. Brand, posted by johnnyval on December 5, 2003, at 16:17:32
I found barr brand was totally unacceptable--from very first dose. I was hoping it was just me over reacting , but as I continued to use it for a few days I found it caused a totally different effect than either the brand name or the dextrostat-which by the way was just as good highly recommend. Problem was pharmacies all dropped the dextrostat and carried the barr generic. The barr caused a feeling of spaciness, anxiety, headaches as you mentioned and even oddly many times made me drowsy. On the brand name dexedrine or the generic dextrostat I have no side-effects whatsoever. My only remedy was to insist on the brand name. I've heard many complaints concerning this barr so called generic equivalent so you're not alone in what you have perceived. Some pharmacies still do carry the dextrostat generic , perhaps you could shop about and find one. Good Luck !
