Alcoholics, especially those that have a weakness for whiskey shots, can have numerous throat/lung problems... anywhere from chronic bronchitus to even throat cancer (if i remember it correctly). The fumes from alcohol are hazardous to ones respiratory system. Definately an irritant.
The dehydration is a serious concern (alcohol is a diuretic). Hospitals will try to treat that right off through an IV. I've heard that orange juice & banannas are recommended if you're withdrawaling at home (to replace zinc & potassium?) If one couldn't keep anything down, it would be time to see the doctor and ask for something for the naseau and if you're lucky, librium for outpatient withdrawal. My combo for surviving was cherry coolaide & chicken noodle soup (not mixed together).
Regards to earlier posts about the weekend bingers... two 5ths of Jack Daniels (3000 calories a piece) consumed within 48 hours can leave a weekend drinker contemplating the wonders of withdrawal.
You've got nowhere to go but down if you continue the pattern. I haven't had to suffer from that for over 1.5 years. My whole life had to change.
Candida, I believe, is a reacurring yeast infection. Guess what an alcohol abuser has a high level of? high blood sugar levels!! and yeast thrives on that.
