Serzone: Why it was not for me?

Posted by Gidon on December 2, 2003, at 0:39:19

Can anyone help please.

I know serzone is a sexually neutral antidepressant. I took it for sometimes long ago and found it not helping. I began on 50mg in the evening time and stayed on it for three days. Then upped the dose to 100mg and stayed another three days. Total six days. It made me severely depressed means actually exacerbated my depression. Serzone is supposed to aid sleep but I had severe insomnia while I was on it. I left it after one week because I was concerned of getting another severe bout of depression.
Can anyone explain why this happened to me. Was it because of the trivial dose? Should I have used at least 200mg initiallly? My doc was overcautious and didn't allow me to go beyond her recommendation. That's why I tried only 100mg and left it. I know maximum 600mg is used to treat depression. I want to give it a second trial. Because it is very expensive and my present financial state is very bad I don't want to lose my money for nothing. I have no insurance coverage. But anyway if 200mg initially and a higher dose later will help I will definitely go for it. Can you please share your experiences?
