Having a terrible time with Lexapro

Posted by tiredman on November 28, 2003, at 20:27:16

I suffered a major trauma in mid-September. I’ve got what is called severe reactive depression.

I started on Lexapro over a month ago. I’m very sensitive to meds so I started on a 2.5 mg. dose. I am following a strange pattern. I take the dose. Feel good the day after and one more day. Then I feel bad again. My pdoc tells me to increase the dose. I do. I feel good for two days then bad again. As of five days ago, I was up to 15mg. Felt good for two days, terrible yesterday and today. I’m getting ready to give up on this stuff.

I took Prozac years ago. After waiting the three weeks I felt fine. None of these ups and downs. My pdoc thought Lexapro would be better for me.

I usually cycle between x-hours of anxiety and then x-hours of depression. Today was an entirely new feeling. It was a combo of both anxiety and depression at the same time. I can’t describe it but it was awful. I don’t know what to do.

I also seem to urinate a lot more then I ever did. I think I read on another post that Lexapro dehydrates you. Is this correct.

PLEASE help!
