I've long been interested in dopamine, though my research came from investigating dopamine and alcoholism. Dopamine, being a "reward" center of the brain, rewards a person for drinking, even though it's killing the body. AD's that increase dopamine flow or inhibits reuptake help with alcohol cravings.
Trusting to my faulty memory to have posted the above correctly... Dopamine is very important.
