Avoidant Borderline Personality Disorder

Posted by cbwarejr on October 28, 2003, at 11:24:54

While trying to understand my wife better, I came across this diagnosis. I about fell out of my chair because it fits her to a tee. Almost every aspect describes her.

I don't know where her lifelong depression fits in, her dad is severly depressed.

Anyone else have experiences and comments about this Borderline Personality Disorder Stuff. If you read about the Avoidant aspect, you can see that discussing or even bring it up make her worse. It also ties in with her being very reluctant to discuss her true feelings with her docs, or maybe even capable. Sometimes she lives in a different world and although the diagnosis helps with the description it seems like there is no way her situation will ever improve much.

Long term I always wonder what I am in store for as her husband. There are not many threads from the standpoint of the person who lives or is married to the depressed person.

Oh well.
