Tegretol: Hypersexual On This Medication

Posted by Mishal on October 28, 2003, at 2:41:59

I began my tegretol dosing and this is the third day. I have been noticing some strange effects. A total increase in libido, a boost in energy no depressive feelings. These are the positive effects. And on the downside I am experiencing severe dizziness with nausea-sometimes vomiting, a total mental fogginess. Are these positive and negative symptoms are due to neurotoxicity?

What exactly is neurotoxicity? If I continue this drug does it mean that I am damaging my nerves permanently ? I am on 400mg now which is supposed to go up by next week. Will the effects like hypersexuality (which is welcome because sexually dysfunctional for years) and side effects like nausea and dizziness go away with time. I dont want to lose the positive effects anyway.
