> This is the first week of doing it. Doubled it from 125 to 250 mg. The only changes I can see is that I am sleeping better and I'm unexpectedly tearful. I have this very very vague memory that the reason I stuck to the low dose was that higher doses made me feel depressed. Does that sound right? I could be completely off on that. It's been a while.

Depakote definitely makes me more depressed. This has been reported by others here over the years. I don't know what you are being treated for, but 250mg is too low a dosage on which to pass any judgments. Without a magic 8-ball, it would be difficult to determine if your perceived worsening of depression will be transient. The brain can sometimes act unpredictably when exposed to medication.Hope you feel better.
