Buspar is an anti-anxiety, Pamelor is a tricyclic anti-depressant.
My therapist doesn't really tell me whats wrong with me either...he might not really know yet. Maybe it's the same case with your mom. I personally don't think he would prescribe those two drugs for Bipolar Disorder. I was prescribed two anti-anxietys and an anti-depressant for panic attacks, OCD, and depression...and now Geodon for paranoia. The drugs can be prescribed for a LOT of different purposes, so it is hard to narrow it down to one reason she has been prescribed this particular combination. Maybe have her ask her doctor what his take is on her illness and what it is. Bless you and your mom.

> My mom told me that she was on Buspar and Pamelor for awhile. What are these two used for? I know that Zoloft and Lithium or Depakote are used for bipolar disorder. Can someone help me figure out this "mystery"? My mom is wondering the same thing since her therapist was just like my old one...never told her what was wrong with her. But she was on those drugs for awhile(I am bipolar and on Zoloft and Lithium).
