Hi All,
In the past my pdoc has talked about MAOI's and I balked because of the dietary restrictions. We're trying a low dose of selegiline at the moment, and 5 mg pushed me into a mixed state which we're trying to control with Keppra. So maybe MAOI's wouldn't be for me anyway. But I digress.
I'm a vegetarian, so I figured it would be really hard to avoid some of the foods such as aged cheeses and soy sauce. But I'm starting to wonder if I was being too rigid about not trying Parnate or Nardil. Can anyone post something about the current knowledge of the MAOI diet.
Any vegetarians out there taking one?
Could I eat yogurt, bananas, raisins and other dried fruits? Soy milk? Tofu? Tempeh? Rice milk? Almond milk? Goat cheese? Are fava beans the only legumes excluded? I've seen some people say they were okay eating the mozzarella on typical pizza...?
Thanks,
Emme
