Hi There,
This is a first time post for me. About a year ago my wife started to experience depression. It turns out this was not the first time and she had a bout of depression about 10 years earlier. At the time she did not get any treatment or use any medication. Anyways back to a year ago. It was probably the toughest time in my life; I can't even imagine how she must of felt. We started down the naturopath route first. She was put on, Vitamin B, Omega 3, St. Johns Wort and Triptophan. However after about 3 months she was only getting worse. With some “encouragement” from family we started on Celexa. Things were going well. And again we started talking on starting a family and putting the worst time of our life behind us. But for some reason God did not see it our way. Within the last couple of weeks she has been changing. She is more hyper, irritable, louder and some times a bit obnoxious and rude. These changes were noticed by many not just myself and our family, but friends and now co-workers. We went to the doctor and she basically told us that my wife now bi-polar and gave us Zyprexa. She also told us that more than likely my wife will be on medication for a looooong time or even forever. This really scared me. Neither of us wants to be on more drugs not to mention our plans for a family are once again probably on hold. I am not sure what I expect by posting this, maybe I am hoping someone will just say don’t do anything and it will all go away, or at least some other alternatives, preferably non-pharmaceutical ones. Also from what I read Zyprexa does not sound very nice either.
