Why do you need it? It's chemical name is GHB, but doctors refer to it as "sodium oxybate," it's generic name. Its brand name is Xyrem (it's only available as a brand name drug).Go to xyrem.com and get the number, ask for an info pack, and abstracts related to the condition you're looking to treat (even if it's not indicated by the FDA, they will help you).
Your doctor needs to see a short video, call the pharmacist, enter his or her information into their database, and fill out the special script pad they will send to him or her after he or she calls them.
So you can't do all the leg work, this is a complicated medicine, your doctor needs to call at some point. But first make her comfortable by giving her a packet of info they will send you. That's what I did, and then my doctor called their pharmacists for advice. They're very knowledgable, even in conditions it's not approved for (but they make it clear that you initiated such a conversation if this is what you're asking info for).
