> Tranxene SD is an extended release benzodiazepine. Just like Xanax XR. It seems to be a great drug, but I never hear anything about it. Doesnt anyone on this board take this medication? It has worked wonders for me. I have taken all the ssri's plus Remeron, Buspar, Ativan, Valium and Klonopin. I relate this medication to klonopin - feel the same on it but had to get off klonopin because It was causing me irritability. I took 1.5 mgs per day. Besides, even regular Tranxene has a longer half life. I take 22.5 mgs one tablet twice daily morning and night. This is a great medication for anxiety. Is also prescribed for seizures and alcohol withdrawal at different doses. I want to hear from people that have either been on Tranxene SD or just plain Tranxene - even generic tranxene (clorazepate) is fine.

I tried it briefly for Social Phobia, since it's my pdoc's preferred benzo. It was useless for my SP (Klonopin's a godsend for that), but I have a friend who finds it incredibly helpful for her Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

BTW, branded and generic Tranxene (and also Ativan) were recently the target of a (successful) class-action suit for price-fixing.
