Stims and multivitamins/pH

Posted by Peter on September 20, 2003, at 5:41:20

I take "TwinLab Daily One Caps" (without iron) multivitamin - 1 at night right before I go to bed. I take it at that time because I know that vitamin C reduces adderall absorption, and the multivitamins contain 150mg (250%DV) Vitamin C.
Here's my question: I take my first dose of adderall 15mg right after I wake up. So that's probably around 8 hours after I take the multivitamin; is that enough time elapsed overnight so that the vitamin C in the multivitamin I take the night before will not affect the adderall absorption?
Also, I know that urine acidity is supposed to be a bit higher in the morning when you wake up than at night after your body has worked to metabolize food you consume throughout the day; I'm trying to eat more foods during the day that leave an alkaline ash so that my urine will be more base in order to: a) improve my overall health; b) prevent reduction of adderall absorption. So I try to eat more fruits and veggies now; but when I awoke today, I tested my urine acidity with a pH strip and, even though it's supposed to be more on the acidic side of the neutral range in the morning, it was VERY acidic, way below the neutral range - like 5.0. Now wouldn't this simple fact alone decrease the absorption of my morning adderall? And what caused such high acidity? The multivitamin I take before bed? Maybe the sweets/carbs I sometimes eat before bed; I usually eat some potato chips or a candy bar while watching a movie before bed; it calm me down for sleep. But, since fried-foods and sweets tend to create an acidic ash when metabolized, could that be the reason for my extra-high acidity the next morning?
I really don't want to start messing with over-alkalizing my body with baking soda before an adderall dose; it just sounds dangerous to me. I'd prefer to keep my pH levels healthy and my adderall absorption optimal in a more natural way; but what about that extreme morning acidity? Won't that reduce adderall absorption? If so, any suggestions as to how to make it so my morning pH levels are higher?
thanks,
Peter
